Sibuya Game Reserve
Luxury that treads lightly.
A 45-minute boat ride along the Kariega Estuary is your first taste of Sibuya — leaving the everyday behind before you’ve even arrived. Set in the Eastern Cape, the reserve offers four distinct places to stay, each with its own character.
River Camp offers four spacious tented rooms tucked into dense woodland, built with sustainability at their core. Each has its own fireplace for cool evenings, and ground-level walkways mean children can comfortably share a room with parents — an intimate choice for families and small groups.
At Forest Camp, eight secluded tents are set deep in the forest, connected by raised wooden walkways that protect the fragile ecosystem below while giving guests glimpses of the reserve’s wildlife along the way — built for solitude, without giving up any comfort.
Bush Lodge is Sibuya’s most exclusive stay: four secluded thatched suites reached by boat and a short game drive. Each has its own viewing deck, en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, and air conditioning, with sweeping views across the valley and a pool to match.
Named in memory of Nel, one of the reserve’s founding family members, Nel’s Lodge is a sole-use four-star hideaway built from pebbles harvested on site and perched on a plateau with views over the Kariega Estuary as it winds toward the ocean. An open-plan living area, fireplace and heated pool are joined by a master suite upstairs and two further en-suite bedrooms downstairs, sleeping up to eight with children able to share. Nel’s Lodge has grid power and Wi-Fi, and guests receive the same personal service as the rest of Sibuya: private chef, field guide and game drive vehicle.
Sibuya’s conservation work runs alongside its hospitality: reforestation, clearing invasive species, and supporting the reintroduction of native wildlife, with particular focus on cheetah, rhino and bontebok.
Every stay at Sibuya is built around the same idea — a genuine, unhurried connection to the Eastern Cape wilderness, whichever camp you choose.
