Our annual events calendar combines the best of the nature reserve setting with family fun as well as foodie and cultural events too.
Here are the Top 5 De Hoop events you can still book in 2015:
1. Father’s Day with Ivo Ivanov 19-21 June
Join world-renowned violinist, Ivo Ivanov, for a weekend of music, wine and dining in celebration of Father’s Day. SIJNN Wines of Malgas will be doing a special musical pairing for Saturday evening’s dinner, while Sunday’s affair will be a laid back lunch beneath the magnificent Fig Tree in the main Opstal area. R250 for Saturday 3 course dinner and show . R180 for Sunday Buffet Lunch and show. (Children 12 and under half price). Day visitors welcome, please book ahead.
2. Christmas in July 10-12 July
There’s nothing quite like TWO Christmas celebrations in a year, and De Hoop’s annual Christmas in July is always a festive affair. Father Christmas will be there to delight the kids while parents enjoy a classic high tea outdoors. Famed chocolatier Richard von Geusau hosts one of his sinful chocolate making workshops over the weekend, and the ever amusing Emile Minnie performs his one man show on the Saturday evening for some musical dinner theatre. Day visitors welcome, please book ahead.
3. Potberg & De Hoop MTB Challenge 7-9 August
For those who prefer an adrenalin-focused getaway, why not sign up for the Potberg & De Hoop MTB Challenge? There’s a choice of 6 rides, the longest of which is a 75km ride covering two nature reserves. Accommodation and meal packages are available through De Hoop Collection, while race bookings are through Garden Route Events – http://www.gardenrouteevents.co.za
4. Wine, Whales and Music 4-6 September
A calendar favourite, Wine, Whales and Music in September sees five Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra members returning to De Hoop for a celebration of music and whales, and of course fine wines from the Overberg. Guests can look forward to a high tea, food pairings, and whale presentations.
Did you know: Pay to stay for two nights on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast basis and all your activities are included.
5. Yoga Retreats
Perhaps it’s the scenic calm of the nature reserve that lends itself so well to workshop and retreat weekends. For the second half of 2015, guests can look forward to two different yoga workshops – one with Marianne Wiid at the main Opstal area at De Hoop (19-22 July), while YogaSpirit of Constantia’s second workshop for the year will be held 9-12 October.
