DESCRIPTION: Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve is the biggest game reserve in the Southern Cape, with more than 2200 ha spread out across the hills above the scenic Garden Route coastline.  With its breathtaking views across the Bay of Beauty, its abundance of wildlife, superb facilities for day and overnight visitors and warm African hospitality, it offers an exciting child-friendly safari experience in a non - malaria area wiht an excellent change of spotting four of Africa's Big Five - buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino.
LOCATION:

Just 12 km from Plettenberg Bay, one of the most popular and beautiful holiday destinations on South Africa's Garden Route coast, Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve is easily accessiable.  Once in town travellers have a  short 15 minuts journey to the reserve.  Stay on the N2 and head in an easterly directions towards Kerubooms.  Just past the Bitou Rive Bridge turn letf at the Wittedrif / R340.  Follow the R340 for 12 km up into Uplands, where Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve is sign posted.

 
 
ACCOMMODATION: The beautiful colonial-style Baroness Luxury Safari Lodge was built in 1822 by Baron von Pletten, an early South African pioneer and conservationist, who used the original, smaller Lodge as his base to explore the then untamed African landscapes.  Built from local stone, the Lodge has lost little of its original feel and it both romantic and luxurious with spectacular views across rolling lawns where zebra and antelope room freely, to the indigenous forests and majestic Tsitsikamma mounains in the distance.  Each of the 10 spacious luxury rooms opens onto the picturesque gardens with their indigenous plants, cool verandas, coutyards and quant plunge pool.  Suites are spacious and comfortable, with high ceilings and original polished cement and yellowwood floors.

Game Lodge Facilities
The Baroness Luxury Safari Lodge has 10 stylish and spacious suites. 
The Lodge has an enclosed Boma witha  central open fire place, a bar and a deck over the dam where sundowners and dinners are served. 
Within the main building of the Lodge are a number of comfortable sitting areas wiht fireplaces, a well-stocked librarty and two dining rooms. 
There is a plunge pool in the courtyard off the dining room.

Game Drives
Join our experienced an knowledgeable game raqngers for a two - hour game drive in an open Land Rover so you can feel close to Nature and enjoy the sensory experience af Africa.  Expect to see any of the Big Four species on the Reserve - buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino, as well as numerous species of antelope, giraffe, zebra, hippo and crocodiles. 

Horseback Safaris
Your most memorable African experience will be a hore back safari at Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve.  There is no better way to view the game which, accustomed to the presence of the horses, will allow them within very close range.  On horseback you can go where vehciles have no access and are free to toam with the game or track them down. 

Bush Walks
Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve will shortly introduce Bush walks with a guide for both day and overnight visitors.  You will be able to enjoy a two hour excursion into the exquisite indigenous forests to see ancient yellowwoods, stinkwoods and ironwoods and lern about therse and other plants of South Africa's Forest biome.
